Flesh-Eating Slug Repellent
Appearance:
Flesh-Eating Slug Repellent is yet to be described in the books, so its appearance
is unknown.
Function:
Flesh-Eating Slug Repellent is, quite literally, an insect repellent used
to rid plants of Flesh-Eating Slugs. Exactly what type of flesh the slugs
are attracted to is unknown (whether it be human, animal, or plant), but Hagrid
uses the repellent to protect the Hogwarts' cabbages, inferring that Flesh-Eating
Slugs are interested in at least some plants and vegetables.
How to Use:
Unknown. It may be similar to Muggle insecticides, or it may require magical
influence in order to work.
Notes:
Flesh-Eating Slug Repellent is first introduced in CoS, when Harry Potter
encounters Hagrid in Knockturn Alley. Hagrid was attempting to buy Flesh-Eating
Slug Repellent to use on the Hogwarts' cabbages. Knockturn Alley is a dubious
place located just off of Diagon Alley in Magical London. Knockturn Alley
is inhabited mainly by the disreputable dregs of wizard society, leading to
the assumption that both Flesh-Eating Slugs and the repellent used against
them are Dark in nature. Dark or not, Flesh-Eating Slug Repellent seems to
be effective as Hagrid was willing to enter Knockturn Alley, fully aware of
its less-than-wholesome reputation, to purchase some.
