Snatchers

SPEW"Snatchers" was a general term for a band of wizards who tried to capture Muggle-Borns and blood traitors to turn into the Death Eater-run Ministry of Magic for a reward. The efficiency of these groups varied greatly: Some bands of Snatchers were disorganized and ineffective at their job, such as the group that Ron ran into upon his departure from his, Harry, and Hermione's tent. In this case, Ron gave the Snatchers a false name, causing a row between the gang members as to his true identity and allowing him to hit a Snatcher in the stomach, steal a wand, and escape [DH19]. Other groups of Snatchers, however, were far more efficient and brutal, such as the group led by Fenrir Greyback that captured Harry, Ron, and Hermione and brought them to Malfoy Manor [DH23].

Snatchers may be affiliated in part with the Ministry of Magic, as Harry's use of Voldemort's name to break the Taboo summoned Snatchers to the vicinity, in lieu of official Ministry representatives [DH22]. The standard size of a group of Snatchers is unknown; however, the group that captured Ron had five members [DH19] and the group led by Fenrir Greyback consisted of six, including the werewolf himself [DH23].

Known Snatchers:
Fenrir Greyback [DH23]
Scabior [DH23]
