January 1994
Harry began private lessons with Defense Against the Dark Arts Professor Remus Lupin. He worked on producing a successful Patronus Charm to repel dementors.

Spring 1994
· Knowing Sirius was closing in, Scabbers faked his own death as only Peter Pettigrew could, by leaving some blood and a couple of Crookshanks' hairs on Ron's bedsheet.
· Sirius Black managed to get into the Gryffindor tower but couldn't find Pettigrew.
· Gryffindor finally got the chance to win the school's Quidditch Cup.

6 June, 1994
· Sybill Trelawney made her second real prophecy, predicting to Harry Potter that Lord Voldemort's servant would return to him that night.
· Sirius finally caught Scabbers, but had to drag Ron along with him and Harry, Hermione, and Lupin followed. Sirius revealed the truth about the Potters' Secret-Keeper to Harry, but could not clear his name to the rest of the world, because Lupin was transformed to a wolf by the full moon, and in the ensuing commotion Pettigrew transformed himself too, and ran away.
· Harry and Hermione used her Time Turner to help Sirius escape the dementors on the back of Hagrid's condemned hippogriff.

July 1994
· Harry and Sirius began corresponding by owl post.
· Pettigrew found his way to Albania and reunited with his master. As a token of his loyalty he brought to Voldemort Bertha Jorkins, a witch who worked at the Ministry. Voldemort was able to torture her and gain all the information he needed to implement his plan for becoming even more powerful than before. He even broke through Bartemius Crouch Snr's Memory Charm on her, to find out about the continued loyalty of Barty, Jr.
· Barty Crouch, Jr., began fighting the Imperius Curse his father constantly kept him under.
· Harry Potter turned fourteen.

August 1994
· Voldemort, his serpent Nagini, and Pettigrew returned to Britain and took up temporary residence in the old Riddle mansion at Little Hangleton.
· For the first time, Harry had a dream in which he was actually witnessing Lord Voldemort's actions. He saw Voldemort murder a Muggle, Frank Bryce, at the Riddle mansion.
· The Quidditch World Cup drew at least a hundred thousand witches and wizards to a British campground, including the Malfoys, Harry and the Weasleys, and even Barty Couch, Jr. Some revelers after the match tormented the Muggle family who ran the campground. Barty, enraged that former Death Eaters should be enjoying themselves when they had, in his opinion, shown a distinct lack of loyalty to the Dark Lord after his fall, broke away from Winky and fired the Dark Mark into the air. He used Harry's wand, which he had stolen during the match.
· Voldemort and Pettigrew sought out Barty Crouch, Jr., placing his father under the Imperius Curse and freeing Barty.
· Dobby the house-elf found paid employment in the kitchens at Hogwarts school.

1 September, 1994
· Early in the morning Pettigrew and Barty attacked Mad-Eye Moody at his home. They placed him under the Imperius Curse, locked him in his own trunk, and used his hair for a Polyjuice Potion so Barty could assume Moody's form and take his place as Defense Against the Dark Arts teacher at Hogwarts.
· Harry, Hermione, and Ron returned to Hogwarts for their fourth year, and found out the Triwizard Tournament would be starting up again, taking place this time at Hogwarts.

30 October, 1994
· Delegations from the other two schools competing in the Tournament arrived at Hogwarts. Madame Maxime brought her students from Beauxbatons, and Igor Karkaroff, now a headmaster, brought several from Durmstrang.
· The Goblet of Fire was taken from its casket and students began putting their names into it.

31 October, 1994
· Throughout the day, more students entered the contest. At some point, Barty Crouch, Jr., disguised as Professor Moody, wrote Harry's name on a piece of paper along with the name of a fourth school and put a strong Confundus Charm on the Goblet to persuade it to choose a fourth champion.
· In the evening, the Goblet spewed forth four names of contestants to the Triwizard Tournament: Cedric Diggory of Hogwarts, Fleur Delacour of Beauxbatons, Viktor Krum of Durmstrang, and Harry Potter.
· Barty Crouch, Sr., attending the ceremony as Head of International Magical Cooperation, gave the final approval for Harry to participate in the Tournament as fourth Champion. Undoubtedly Voldemort's Imperius Curse on him was instrumental in making this decision.

21 November, 1994
Hagrid let Harry see that the first task of the Tournament would be dragons.

23 November, 1994
Harry warned Cedric about the dragons. Barty Crouch, Jr., in his role as Moody, gave Harry clues as to how to get through the first task.

24 November, 1994
The first task of the Tournament. Harry performed a Summoning Charm to bring his Firebolt to him, and flew to distract the Hungarian Horntail dragon, finally making one fast swoop for the Golden Egg. After the first task Harry was tied with Krum for first place.

25 December, 1994
· Harry took Parvati Patil to the Yule Ball, while Ron went with Parvati's twin Padma. They spent much of the time sulking that they weren't with the girls of their dreams. Hermione had gone with Krum, and Harry's crush Cho Chang was escorted by Cedric Diggory. Ginny was dancing with Neville, though no one really cared at the time.
· Percy Weasley took Mr. Crouch's place at the Yule Ball. Mr. Crouch was beginning to fight Voldemort's Imperius Curse so he was no longer allowed out of the house. Instead of reporting to his office at the Ministry, Voldemort forced Crouch to send notes and instructions.
· Dumbledore mentioned his discovery of the Room of Requirement.
· Former Death Eaters Karkaroff and Snape noted the Dark Marks on their arms were getting clearer.
· Harry and Ron (and unregistered Animagus and Daily Prophet reporter Rita Skeeter) overheard that Hagrid was half-giant.
· Cedric Diggory hinted that Harry should take his golden egg, the clue for the second task, into the bath. Cedric himself had been given this advice from Barty Crouch, Jr. (Professor Moody), who knew Cedric would tell Harry in the interest of fairness.

Late January, 1995
Late at night, Harry took his golden egg to the Prefects' Bathroom to work on the clue. On his way back to Gryffindor Tower, he stumbled and dropped his Marauder's Map. Crouch Jr. found it and kept Harry from getting in trouble for his expedition, but in exchange asked if he could borrow the Map. Harry agreed, not realising he was actually putting it in the hands of a Death Eater.

24 February, 1995
The second task of the Triwizard Tournament. Barty Crouch, Jr., still disguised as Moody, took care to mention gillyweed in front of Dobby the house-elf, knowing Dobby would help Harry get some. Harry used his gillyweed to breathe underwater, successfully repelled the grindylows, and found the merpeople. He freed not only Ron, whom the merpeople had held hostage for him, but also Gabrielle, Fleur's little sister. He was awarded extra points for 'showing moral fiber,' and was then tied with Cedric for first place.

17 May, 1995
Voldemort sent word to Barty Crouch, Jr., at Hogwarts, that Mr. Crouch had escaped imprisonment in his own home. Voldemort knew Crouch would make his way North to Dumbledore. Barty Crouch kept an eye (Moody's eye) on the Marauder's Map, waiting for his father to show up.

24 May, 1995
· Harry and the other Triwizard Champions received their instructions for the third and final task.
· On their way into the school after visiting the growing hedge maze, Harry and Viktor Krum encountered Mr. Crouch. He was still suffering the effects of the Imperius Curse, but now and then managed to articulate his need to speak to Dumbledore. While Harry ran to fetch the Headmaster, Barty Crouch, Jr. hurried to the scene, stunned Krum from behind, and killed his father. He transfigured the body into a bone and buried it.
· Having no need to stay at the Crouch residence anymore, Voldemort and Pettigrew journeyed back to the Riddle mansion.

24 June, 1995
· The third task of the Triwizard Tournament.
· Rita Skeeter published possibly her most shocking and damaging article yet in the Daily Prophet: a scathing expose of the madness of the Boy Who Lived. She wrote about the pains Harry experienced from his scar and about his ability to talk to snakes.
· Before dinner, the Triwizard Cup was entrusted to Moody to carry out to the centre of the maze. Barty seized this opportunity to make the Cup a Portkey, connecting it to the graveyard by the Riddle mansion, where Voldemort's father and grandparents were buried.
· Harry and Cedric reached the prize Cup in the centre of the maze at the same time, and were both taken by the Portkey to the graveyard. Pettigrew killed Cedric on Voldemort's orders and bound Harry. He brewed a potion using some bone from Voldemort's father's grave, some of Harry's blood, and his own hand, to restore Voldemort to his body as it had been just before attacking Harry fourteen years before. Because his new body was made with Harry's blood, Voldemort was able to touch Harry unhindered by the protection of Lily's sacrifice.
· Voldemort called the Death Eaters back, and created a new, silver hand for Pettigrew. He forced Harry to duel with him. But their wands, made with feathers from the same phoenix (Fawkes, as it happens), would not fight each other. Instead, Harry's wand created a Priori Incantatem effect with Voldemort's, so that shades of the last five people he'd killed - Cedric, Frank Bryce, Bertha Jorkins, and Harry's own parents - appeared. They distracted Voldemort while Harry took the Portkey back to Hogwarts.
· At the school, Barty Crouch, Jr. tried to finish off Harry on Voldemort's behalf, but Dumbledore followed and stopped him, finally exposing him as an imposter and not the real Alastor Moody.
· Minister for Magic Cornelius Fudge was called in to interview Barty, but never got the chance. The dementors he brought as personal security guards administered their Kiss to Barty. They sucked the soul out of him, rendering his body virtually empty. Fudge then refused to believe the story of Voldemort's return.
· Dumbledore began to reassemble the Order of the Phoenix with help from Arthur Weasley and Sirius Black. He sent Snape to return to Voldemort as a spy, though it is possible Snape returned for his own reasons.
· Hermione Granger caught Rita Skeeter in her Beetle form and trapped her in a jar.

Early July, 1995
· At the Hogwarts Leaving Feast, and much against the wishes of the Ministry, Headmaster Dumbledore announced to the entire student body that Voldemort had returned. The students were then sent home for the summer.
· Voldemort began formulating plans to retrieve from the Department of Mysteries the prophecy Snape had half-overheard fifteen years before.
· Hermione released Rita Skeeter after forcing her to promise not to write anything for a year.
· The Order of the Phoenix arranged for Harry to be guarded constantly while at the Dursleys.' They also began guarding the door to the Department of Mysteries every night.
· The Daily Prophet began a subtle yet steady smear campaign against Dumbledore and Harry Potter, to ensure the public would not believe the Ministry had allowed Voldemort to return.
· Rubeus Hagrid and Madame Olympe Maxime set out, as inconspicuously as possible, to find the giants and seek their alliance with Dumbledore.
· Harry started sharing Voldemort's dreams of a long corridor and a locked door.

Early August, 1995
· The Order of the Phoenix moved into 12 Grimmauld Place in London, Sirius' long-vacant family home.
· The Ministry stripped Dumbledore of many honours he'd received throughout his life, such as being Chief Warlock of the Wizengamot and the Chairman of the International Confederation of Wizards.
· Dolores Umbridge, Minister Fudge's Senior Undersecretary, decided to silence the Potter boy more definitely by having him exiled from the magical world. She sent dementors to attack him. Naturally, he retaliated with a Patronus and saved himself and Dudley. However, he was now threatened with expulsion.
· Four nights later, an 'Advance Guard' came to pick up Harry from the Dursleys and took him to Phoenix headquarters, where he helped with cleaning out the Black mansion until his hearing.
· Hagrid and Maxime reached the giants and had some successful interraction with the Gurg, Karkus. When, a couple nights later, a new Gurg took over, Hagrid and Maxime were no longer welcome. They tried to communicate with some of the outcast giants, but at last realised they had done as much as they could, and headed slowly home, while a small delegation of Death Eaters made nice with the new Gurg Golgomath instead.

12 August, 1995
· Harry attended his disciplinary hearing deep within the Ministry of Magic. He was cleared of all charges thanks to Dumbledore's help and evidence.
· Ministry benefactor Lucius Malfoy placed Order member Sturgis Podmore under the Imperius Curse.

30 August, 1995
The Ministry of Magic passed Educational Decree 22, giving itself the right to decide who filled long-vacant positions at Hogwarts. Dolores Umbridge thus became Professor of Defense Against the Dark Arts.

31 August, 1995
· Ron and Hermione received their prefect badges for the upcoming schoolyear - and Draco Malfoy received his.
· Sturgis Podmore, under the Imperius, was forced to try and break into the Department of Mysteries.

1 September, 1995
Harry and his friends headed back to school for his fifth year.

Early September, 1995
Sturgis Podmore was sentenced to 6 months in Azkaban for his attempted break-in.

October 1995
At Hermione and Ron's urging, Harry formed a private Defense Against the Dark Arts group called Dumbledore's Army. Harry began teaching the group of about twenty-five other students the countercurses he had learned while preparing for the Triwizard Tournament. They used the Room of Requirement for their meetings and communicated through Galleon coins Hermione had bewitched with a Protean Charm.

November 1995
· Gryffindor beat Slytherin in the first Quidditch match of the year. Ever a sore loser, Draco Malfoy insulted both Ron's mother and Harry's after the match. Harry attacked him, getting himself kicked off the Quidditch team. Professor/High Inquisitor Umbridge locked his Firebolt in her office.
· Hagrid returned to Hogwarts with an over-large and unwilling companion, his half-brother Grawp. Hagrid kept him in the Forbidden Forest behind his hut.
· Department of Mysteries worker Broderick Bode was sent to St. Mungo's with serious brain injury after trying to retrieve a prophecy he was not meant to touch. Needless to say, he was under the Imperius Curse at the time, courtesy of Lucius Malfoy.

Mid-December, 1995
· Harry had his first kiss, with the lovely yet perpetually tearful Cho Chang.
· Voldemort possessed a giant snake which entered the Ministry and bit Arthur Weasley, who was guarding the Department of Mysteries on behalf of the Order.
· As Harry slept, he witnessed Voldemort's attack on Arthur - and felt it as if he were inside the snake himself. His mind was closer connected than ever to Voldemort's, and finally, Voldemort noticed the link between them.
· Harry woke and was able to alert Dumbledore that Mr. Weasley had been injured. With the help of some portraits in his office, Dumbledore got help to Mr. Weasley without making the activities of the Phoenix too obvious.
· The Weasley children and Harry travelled via Portkey to Phoenix headquarters for Christmas.
· Sirius Black lost his temper with the family house-elf and ordered Kreacher to get out. Kreacher interpreted this as an excuse to leave 12 Grimmauld Place, and he fled to Sirius' cousin, Narcissa Malfoy. The Malfoys immediately began using as much information as Kreacher could give them to pass on to Voldemort. Kreacher, (with perhaps a little help from Snape), told Voldemort how close Harry and his godfather Sirius Black had become.

25 December, 1995
Broderick Bode, who was slowly recovering his cognition while resting in St. Mungo's, was sent a plant for Christmas, from a secret admirer.
